6,000 DOLLARS A NIGHT !

Mister O. is going to Washington...

The Obamas have just left Hawaii, and will be moving on Sunday into a historic Washington hotel called the Hay-Adams hotel, which is one of the city's most expensive hotels.
The family will live there so that They move into Blair House on Jan. 15, and into the White House on Jan. 20, after Barack Obama is sworn in.




The reason given is that  Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, must start going to  their new school, Sidwell Friends, on Monday.

The problem is the price...

Newsday reveals this morning how much it will cost : when I read the price Obama is going to pay, I nearly fainted !


The Obamas will be staying in a suite, one imagines - what else could you do with two daughters? There is, indeed, a Presidential Suite, but it has just 1.5 baths, while the Federal Suite has two full baths, a balcony and a view of the White House, about 200 paces away. The Federal Suite runs $6,000 a night on weeknights, the Presidential $5,000; regular rooms are $795 to $995, depending on the view. (The cost is said to be covered from private transition funds.)




$ 6,000 per night !

It means the Obama family is going to spend in a night what an average employee earns in a month (according to the federal minimum wage which is about 6.55 an hour) !

His fellow-citizens are struggling every day in this period of severe economic crisis...

And what Obama does after returning from his paradise for rich people in Hawaii is to waste thousands of dollars, justifying himself by saying this is "private money".

But whatever the origin of the money, this is the symbol which counts :

Obama is showing America what he will do when he is president.



In 1776, America made a revolution because it wanted to get rid of the British king.

And now, in 2009, you have a president who behaves like a King, living in palaces and luxury while his subjects are trying to make ends meet every month.

Now I've got only one word to say :

Disgusting...

This is simply disgusting...

The Obamas arrive in Chicago early in the morning and will spend just over 48 hours at home.

SUNDAY

The family flies to Washington and moves into the Hay-Adams hotel.

TUESDAY

Swearing-in of a new Congress, one with bigger Democratic majorities that Obama hopes will help to swiftly pass the economic recovery package he wants to sign soon after taking office.

WEDNESDAY

Bush has scheduled a White House lunch for Obama and the former presidents.

JAN. 15

The Obamas move into Blair House, the official government guest residence, which had been occupied.

JAN. 2O

The inauguration. After Obama is sworn in as the 44th president of the United States, the family will move into the White House.
