MAN OF THE YEAR ?

Time magazine has just released its verdict, and so have several French media.
According to them, the person of the year is : Barack Obama.

Of course, this choice does not come as a surprise.
For one year, the media has tried to convince the whole world that this figure is the Saviour of the planet.

And they succeeded : a majority of Americans voted for him...


Unfortunately, as we have kept repeating here on this blog, disillusion is already present in voters' minds.


Instead of the "Change we have been waiting for", Barack Obama has been a real conservative in his Cabinet nominations, appointing a lot of former members of the Clinton administration, and keeping some members of the Bush government. This strategy has already disapppointed a lot of his most liberal supporters.

Is that really the "Change" he had constantly promised during his campaign ?

The worst is Obama's Chicago connections : he has not been inaugurated yet that he is already implicated in one of these corruption scandals which are so characteristic of Illinois' political life. He knew about it for it concerns his own Senate seat...

And indeed, a recent Rasmussen study (a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey taken Thursday and Friday nights) shows that Americans are not so naive...

Forty five percent (45%) of U.S. voters say it is likely President-elect Obama or one of his top campaign aides was involved in the unfolding Blagojevich scandal in Illinois, including 23% who say it is Very Likely.

Just 11% say it is not at all likely!

It means only few Americans are ready to swallow Obama's lies...

 
Thus, apparently,most people do not believe in Obama's repeated denials.
Quite many of them are perfectly aware that they have elected a thug.
And yet, they do not care... A tribute to dishonesty...

Meanwhile, we can bet that the new president will continue to use the same strategy of defense, which is easy for him to do as he is helped by the lack of investigative work done by the media.

So no doubt in future weeks, Mister O. will keep repeating that he didn’t know.
He didn’t know about Rev. Wright’s rants; about Bill Ayers’ bombing; about Rezko’s real estate crime; about Father Pfleger’s entitlement; about Rashid Kahlidi’s Palestinian terrorism; about Fanny Mae execs Franklin Raines, Tim Howard, and James Johnson cooking the mortgage giant’s books for bigger bonuses leading to the current economic collapse (even though Obama used all three as consultants on the Obama ‘08 campaign). Or lately about the sale of his Senate seat by Gov. Blagojevich.

The theme of Obama’s resume is not knowing what bad behavior other people in his political proximity are up to. He just didn’t know, though any observant, prudent person would have.

If past behavior predicts future behavior, a number of people surrounding the new president will go to jail, lie, cheat, steal or wallow in indigence without President Obama knowing it. It will happen without the MSM investigating it, or perhaps just not reporting it.

To conclude, in order to be elected "Person of the year" in today's world, you need to be liar, to cheat, to tell fake stories, to commit electoral fraud, and to usurp power.

That is a funny "modern" conception of the Protestant work ethics which is at the origin of this great nation ! Instead of "Work hard, you will be rewarded ; we now have : "Cheat, and you will be elected and admired all over the world" !

What a cheering end of year 2008...
